At Milwaukee Dental Group we exclusively use composite based resin (white) fillings. Dr. Chandok spearheaded the use of these fillings in the Milwaukee area and has been an advocate for eliminating mercury and amalgam (silver) fillings in dentistry. Composite fillings are safer and more aesthetic because they have the same color as normal, healthy teeth. Composite fillings can be more expensive than amalgam (silver) fillings but to provide our patients with the best care we have reduced our prices so everyone can afford composite fillings.
What are fillings?
A dental filling is a procedure where our dentists excavate (remove) dental decay that has formed in your teeth/tooth. After removal of all the decay that is harming your teeth, our dentists will fill the portion removed with a tooth-like colored substance. These fillings are called composite fillings and are made of high quality resin. Unlike out of date amalgam fillings, composite fillings appear like normal teeth. Eliminating the appearance of ‘metal mouth.’
Why do I need a filling?
Dental fillings are needed to repair teeth that have decay, cracks, trauma and fractures.
What is amalgam?
- Amalgam is combination of alloys and mercury. It is mercury based with a mixture of silver, copper and zinc.
What should I have it removed?
At Milwaukee Dental Group many of our patients have decided to remove their amalgam fillings and replace them which composite (white) fillings. The majority of our patients are much happier with amalgam free, mercury free tooth colored fillings. Tooth colored fillings result in a more natural looking smile.
