What is Preventive Oral Care?
Similar to preventive medicine, the goal of preventive oral care is to be proactive. At Milwaukee Dental Group we take your smile and oral health seriously. By scheduling regular exams and cleanings with us, we will be able to ensure that your smiles are taken care of. Many times patients try to avoid the dentist or delay treatment. At Milwaukee Dental Group our staff and providers are here to provide you with gentle pain-free dentistry. We also aim to be cost effective and affordable. Avoiding regular dentist visits and treatment can turn into an expensive, costly mistake. Many times our staff can detect small issues that need simple, affordable treatment. By delaying treatment you are at the risk of causing your body and wallet pain.
One of the most important things you can do to maintain your smile and oral health is to have a regular (two times a year) exam by your dentist. At Milwaukee Dental Group we combine these exams with your regular dental cleaning. This way both the dental hygienist and dentist are able to review your mouth.
To begin with, our dental hygienists will begin by taking a digital x-rays of your mouth using a small digital sensor. These x-rays will act like pictures, taking detailed images of your teeth and mouth. These x-rays can detect decay, necrosis, and other issues, which may cause your smile harm. After taking these x-rays the dental hygienists will begin logging all your existing dental treatments, conditions in our paperless computer system. After reviewing their notes the dental hygienist will call the dentist to perform a detailed exam. Our expert clinical dentists at Milwaukee Dental Group will perform a thorough exam looking for any signs of dental decay or pain that you might be experiencing, they will also look for signs of oral cancer. Our dentists will take their time to explain their diagnosis and to answer any questions/concerns you have. Then, along with the dental hygienist a complete dental treatment plan will be written up for you. Our dental hygienists will explain the treatment plan and arrange for you to meet our office staff. Our patient care coordinator and appointment scheduler will setup an appointment for your follow up visit based on the days/times that are most convenient to you. If you have any questions about cost, insurance or discounts our office staff will be happy to explain.
Preventive dental care- like dental exams and cleanings are the best way to maintain your oral health. Regular appointments with our dentists will ensure small, pesky issues with your teeth do not turn into expensive procedures.
